Respiratory therapists are licensed healthcare professionals who provide testing, treatment and care to patients who have difficulty breathing. The causes of breathing issues include cardiopulmonary disorders such as heart failure or pulmonary hypertension, chronic respiratory issues like asthma, COPD or cystic fibrosis, and emergencies like heart attack and drowning.
